Jessie Lang

A Man, Son, Brother, Husband, Father, and Friend Blessed it was the day Friday, January 2, 1948, in St. Louis, MO that Jessie Lee Lang was born. The youngest son of the late and preeminent Roscoe and Ora C. Lang who along with his two older brothers Roscoe Lang Jr. and Rufus proceeded him in death. Growing up in North St. Louis Jessie was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools, he attended “The” Sumner High School and graduated in 1966. After the completion of his academic studies, Bae Bae took his ability and hard work ethics gained from his parents to work for McDonnell Douglas. It was at McDonnell Douglas where Jessie worked diligently as a laborer for 25 years. This life is all about choices, and “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD” (Proverbs 18:22). On October 7, 1967, Bae Bae chose his childhood friend Barbara Meeks as his life partner and wife. In this union Jessie and Barbara shared twenty years together, and had three beautiful children, Richard, Jessica, and Calvin. Favor was received. Jessie enjoyed his role as father & grandfather loving his children, Bae Bae shared special bonds with his children during frequent barbershops visits with Richard & Calvin and long bike rides from north county to north city with Jessica. To his grandchildren known to them as “Big Daddy” they would never go without the things they needed, “Yea come on and get it” seemed to be his favorite line. Big Daddy would be so excited to hear about their daily activities and happenings, becoming tech savvy he sent daily inspirational and motivating text messages which reminding them of his love for them. Jessie was loved by all of his family and wonderful friends, to all that knew him they would say it was a joy being around him. Bae Bae’s laugh and smile was captivating, his lively and cheerful spirit charmed us all. Bae Bae had a style unmatched on a daily, special occasions, family events, and holidays he was dressed razor sharp. Jessie was reunited with Christ in the later part of his life and became a member of the Jamison Memorial CME Church, where his parents attended for many years. Dedicated to the mission of the church, Bae Bae did a job well done and happily greeted and seated members of the congregation. Jessie received his wings on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. He leaves one Aunt: Lucile Davenport, his lifelong friend: Barbara Lang, children: Richard, Jessica, & Calvin (Leslie), grandchildren: Janae Bazemore (Terell Bazemore), Byron (BJ), Daija, Jayla, Jada, Calvin Jr (CJ), CiZayiah, & Cayin Lee, great grandchildren: Kobe, Lalia, Aiden, Ava, Ahmir, Azeil, Jersi, & Shilo and host of extended family members friends and special friends Joe Berry, Carl Watt, and Clarice Dupree to cherish his memory. Jessie will be truly missed but never forgotten, as his memory will live on forever in our hearts. We love you Jessie Lee “Bae Bae” Lang our beloved dad, “Big Daddy”, and friend.
