Mildred Jean Robinson

Mildred Jean Robinson was born to Ned Mathews and Amanda Patterson Mathews Neelyville, Missouri on June 17, 1929. She later moved to Saint Louis, Missouri where she met and married the love of her life IC Robinson Sr., who preceded her in transition. To this union, seven children were born. Her daughter, Verlie D. Robinson also preceded her in transition. She attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church where she was a faithful member. She loved to cook and take care of her family and friends, she was always just a phone call away. She will always be missed and loved by all. Her son-in-law Rommel Wilkes Sr., daughters-in-law Janet Clay Robinson, and Donna Robinson also preceded her in transition. She leaves to cherish: two daughters Linda J. Robinson and Saluta M. Robinson (Roger Gladney III), four sons Erwin (Ted) Robinson Sr. (Deanna), Bennie Robinson, Donald R. Robinson, and IC Chris Robinson Jr. (Pat); one brother Martin Mathews the last of 13 siblings, 19 grandchildren Robin (deceased), Michelle, Nicole, Trevonna, Ashley and Genesis, Benjamin, Benjeremy, Bennie, Benjay, Ben, Joel Rommel Jr., Clifton, Bryant, Clayton, Jamel, Christopher, Erwin, and James Joseph, a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and who all loved her dearly. Thank you grandma for loving me, and always being there for us. Love, Susie & Family Grandma, I love you so much! I just want to have one more talk, one more sit down, one more laugh, my head is filled with all the talks we would have and the jokes she would make, even how her face brightened up every time she saw me heartbroken. Love you, Desiree Granny, you truly will be missed. I appreciate the care you have given us as children, the walks, talks, and my love for coffee at an early age (haha). I will miss your wit, charm, and everything about your personality that made you the strong person I love and admire. You were a fighter and I am blessed to inherit that quality. Ashley Her nickname for me was “White Girl.” It was a joke that later became a term of endearment; one that I always looked forward to hearing. The last time we FaceTimed in ICU, she couldn’t see my face but she heard my voice and said softly, “Heeeeyyy White Girl… I want a Pepsi.” I asked her once what life was like when she was young…she shared the story of being chased by some kids who threw rocks at her while shouting racial slurs. I shook my head, “Wow that must’ve been scary.” She laughed, “Girl nah…I picked up those rocks and threw ‘em right back!!” The feisty spirit is definitely going to keep the angels busy!!! Hope they serve Pepsi up there!!! Rest in Heaven Grandma Robinson. I promise to keep throwing rocks at injustice in your honor. We’ll miss you more than you know. XOXO Love Rachel
