Bruce Person

Bruce Edward Person was born November 12, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Bobbie (Brownlee) and George E. Person. His grandparents and father, George Edward Person, proceeded him in death. He was the oldest of two children. He and his brother enjoyed hanging out with their friends in the neighborhood and playing sports in the alley, of course, making sure they were home before the street lights came on. He received his education through the St. Louis public school system where he earned his high school diploma in 1970 from Northwest High School. Later he attended Harris-Stowe State University and Ranken Technical College. After finishing at Ranken Technical College as a auto mechanic, his first job was working for the teamsters as a mechanic on the freight dock until that company moved out of state. He, then, worked for many years at Hostess Wonder Bread until his retirement in 2003. After he retired, he worked as a Skycap at the St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Bruce always said some of the best times of his life were the births of his children, Cortney LaVaughn and Jason Edward, born to him and his former wife Loretta. He was a great father where he enjoyed taking Cortney to dance and Jason to his sports events. Later he was proud of the adults that they became and there were no words for the excitement he felt when the three grandchildren were born, Skylar Slater, Jade Person and Jewel Person.The Chance Meeting at the QuikTrip. Early one morning while fixing her coffee she overheard a conversation between the clerk and the delivery guy about how hard women are on men. She just had to set them straight and she shut them down, hard! When she left she didn’t expect to see him again. Weeks later at a different QuikTrip location, there he was. It was fate. He came over, started talking, and the rest is history. At the Chase Park Plaza Hotel in the Khorassan Ballroom on March 11, 2001 Judy Fantroy Best walked down the aisle, lined with the BTC dancers, to unite with the love of her life, Bruce Edward Person. They were happily married for 23 years. For the last three years as Bruce’s health was declining, Judy was by his side caring for him at home all the way to the end. Bruce was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, March, 23, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Judy; mother, Bobbie Person; brother, Gregory Person; daughter, Cortney; son, Jason; bonus son, Tony (Tomeka); granddaughters, Skylar, Jade and Jewel; bonus granddaughter, Janiya and Londyn; bonus grandsons, Alex and Kristian; and bonus great granddaughter, Carly, uncles, aunts, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and hosts of family and friends.
