Roy Thomas Blair

Roy Thomas Blair, 75, of Richmond Heights, MO was born on November 28, 1938 in Elsberry, Mo. He was the 3rd child of eight born to the union of Theodore R. Blair and Luddenia Johnson Blair. Fraternal Grandson to Robert Lee Blair (VA) & Amanda Francis Kemper (MO); Maternal grandson to Arthur Johnson (MO) & Susie Rose Johnson (M0). Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Thomas (1963) Ida Stewart (2013) Theodosia Davis Bailey (1985). Roy was a member of Elsberry Methodist Church and was ordained as a Deacon there. He later attended Grace Church where he was a faithful worshiper. He was educated in the public schools of Lincoln County, attending Dunbar Elementary and Elsberry High School, in1954 immediately following the Supreme Court decision ordering the desegregation of public schools in the United States. He enjoyed his school days and excelled in sports. Roy later served his country with great pride serving in the U.S. Army in the 1960's. He learned the electrical trade and spent many years practicing his craft in Dayton, Ohio under the mentorship of his favorite cousin, Albert Johnson, Roy relocated to the St. Charles area and was an employee of the American Can Company for over 25 years. Roy was united in marriage to Beverly Barry who preceded him in death prematurely at the tender age of 26. He was later united in marriage to Beverly Jones for over 28 years. Living life to its fullest was his motto! He loved life and never met a stranger, for long. He was kind and gentle; to know him was to love him. He possessed the unique ability to light up a room with his smile. It was contagious! He had the charm and wit, that made nieces and nephews want to be around him all the time. His passion and that of his brothers, was the automobile. He loved vintage cars, His favorite was the 1960's Ford Mustang. Car shows were a regular routine!!!!! He leaves to mourn, a caring and dear wife Beverly, and children: Mark (Dayton ,OH); Kevin (St Louis, MO); Janet (Phoenix, AZ); Marcus (Atlanta, GA); Roy Jr.(O'Fallon, MO), Monica (O'Fallon, MO); Katrina (St. Charles, MO); stepson Deon (Seattle, WA); a son, Darryl died in infancy. 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren In addition to his immediate family, he leaves to mourn his siblings: Robert A. Blair(Erma) Creve Coeur, MO; Louella Childs Creve Coeur, MO; Margaret Ann Berry (Leroy) Town & Country, MO; Sue Talton (Mickey) Ballwin, MO; Phillip E. Blair (Cynthia) Olivette, MO; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Everybody liked Roy. May he rest in peace.
