Mrs. Birdie Mae Bolden

From the union of Earl and Mamie (Foster) Hill Mrs. Birdie Bolden (Hill) was born on December 23, 1929 in New Albany, Mississippi. On January 14, 2015 at the age of 85 she died peacefully in the placed she loved “her home”. At the age of 5 Birdie’s parents relocated to Twist, Arkansas where she began her educational and spiritual journey. Baptized in the Mississippi River at age 12 she assumed responsibility for her spiritual decisions and actions; an expectation she would later communicate to her children. In 1946 she graduated from Earl High School. Soon after graduation she met Charlie Bolden and on October 5, 1947 and for the next 50 years Birdie became the wind beneath the wings of her husband and the ten children born out of the “to death to me part” union; Johnny E. Bolden, Johnnie M. Bolden, Cornelius C. Bolden(Carole), Linda J. Williams(Bobbie), Christopher Bolden(Sharon), Malany R. Bolden-Brewer, Darryl G.Bolden, Gwendolyn D. Bolden, Yolanda L. Bolden, Kevin L. Bolden(Tempa), and her many children not of the union but out of the love she unselfishly gave to all who crossed her path. In the early years of her adult life Birdie attended Prince of Peace to praise God for her many blessings and share her wisdom and knowledge with all who needed guidance and understanding. She enjoyed cooking and was a dedicated and long term employee for the Missouri Athletic Club where she shared her culinary skills until retirement in 1997. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her ten aforementioned children, three much loved daughter in-laws, one dutiful son in-law, nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, baby sister, Clara Hill, St Louis, Mo, two brothers, Earl Hill, St Louis, Mo, Lee Hill, Kansas City, Kansas, a host of loving nieces, awesome nephews, caring cousins, and special friends. Antoine, her very special godson will always remember her smile. Lifelong friends Leona Eddison and Jaunita Fair will be left with many fond memories. Her travel buddy Durron will remember their adventures. Dorothy Sherrard her “dine and dine some more” partner will remember the very special 85th birthday brunch She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Bolden Jr, grandson, Aaron R. Williams, parents, three sisters, three brothers, and her godmother, the centurion, Beatrice Jarmen. Our Magnificent Optimistic Marvelous Will live in our hearts forever. Her generosity, kind spirit, unconditional acceptance, and the unmatched skill of “throwing the curve ball” will be remembered by all who knew her.
