October 9, 1942 - May 3, 2022
Charles Edward Moore was the second born to Jessie and Rose Moore on October 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. He attended St. Louis Public schools and graduated from Sumner High School in 1961. He went on to take college courses at Harris Teachers College (Harris-Stowe State University) where he pledged Omega Psi Phi. As a child, he attended Lane Tabernacle CME Church with his family where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. As an adult, he led his family to become members of Bell Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he was baptized by immersion and served as a deacon. He and his family continued to serve the Lord at St. Luke Memorial Missionary Baptist Church where he was a dedicated deacon under Pastor Jimmy Brown. Charles was united in holy matrimony to Jeanette Clayton on Friday, October 11, 1963. This union was blessed with three boys. Charles and Jeanette worked tirelessly together to raise their family in the admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:4). They instilled in their sons the importance of God, family, and education. Their 58-year union was a strong demonstration of unconditional love, happiness, and sacrifice. As a teen, he worked alongside his father and learned the trade of carpentry. For most of his adult life, Charles served in supervisory positions at McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Company, Carter Carburetor Corporation, and Engineered Air Systems, Inc. The trade he learned from his father as a teen and young adult would soon come back into use as he successfully went into business for himself as the owner of CTS General Contractors. After he retired his business would be rebranded and continued under his first-born Charles Moore II. Because of his loving and generous spirit, he will be missed by many. Charles’ Christian life was exemplified by the love and care that he showed to others. He will be remembered for his charm and sense of humor that endeared him to all. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew and loved him. After his years-long battle with Alzheimer’s, the Lord called him home on Tuesday, May 3rd at his earthly home in Florissant, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father Jessie Moore, his sister Bessie Abney, and his mother Rose Moore. His beautiful life will forever be cherished in all of the lives he touched. He leaves behind: His wife, Jeanette Moore; their children Charles Moore II (Damarys), Tyrone Moore (Shalana), and Steven Moore (April); his grandchildren Joshua Perez-Rijos (Charles); Alden and Christopher Moore (Tyrone); Briana Jung (Youngwoong), Steven Moore II, Amariau Lemuel, Aidenmichael McNair, and Aian Moore (Steven); his siblings Edna Richardson, Estelle Kirkwood (Charles), Frederick Moore, Joyce Taylor (James), Larry Moore (Jeanette); his loving sisters-in-law Martha Clayton and Samella Jones; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
