March 19, 1932 - July 6, 2017
Helen Virginia Henderson was born on March 19, 1932 to the union of John and Mary Henderson in Christiansburg, Virginia. Helen moved to St. Louis in the 1940’s with her parents and one brother, John Henderson Jr. Helen accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Helen was educated in the St. Louis Public School System. She graduated from Hadley Tech, also known as Vashon in 1949. Immediately after high school Helen met Earl Harris; which she had her first-born child, Kenneth Henderson. Helen gladly accepted becoming a grandmother when her fifteen-year-old son Kenneth told her he was expecting a baby, two times in one year. Yes, that was all right with her. She started a tab at the corner store for Kenneth and Dorothy to begin purchasing milk for their two children. Helen met and married Erie Faulkner January 18, 1953. To this union two sons were born, Eric and Stephen. Helen was a devoted worker where she was employed at Bridal Originals for over forty years. Helen retired from Bridal Originals at the age of sixty-two. Helen said that she was tired of working and she was devoted to babysitting her great-grandchildren every chance she had. Helen loved parks and sitting outside listening to music. She also enjoyed cooking. No one could make dumplings and macaroni and cheese like Helen. Cooking was her gift. She loved to help set up parties and serve at parties. Helen was a person that never met a stranger and she didn’t know the meaning of the word NO. She was an OUSTANDING mother to her three sons. She was an OUTSTANDING grandmother. She was an OUSTANDING great-grandmother and an OUTSTANDING friend. The neighbors changed her name from Mrs. Faulkner to Mrs. Foster. She would accept the name, laugh at it, and say, “Yes Baby.” That was Helen. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, Erie Faulkner, and her two sons Kenneth and Eric. Helen departed this life on Thursday morning, July 6, 2017 after a brief illness. Helen leaves to cherish her memory one son; Stephen Faulkner, three grandsons; Kevin Mullen, Eric Seals and Eric Jackson, one granddaughter; Michelle Nunley, two great-grandsons; Antonia Mullen, Terrance Ross, two great-granddaughters; Kacey Mullen and Antonia Robinson; two-great-great-grandsons; her one and only daughter in-law Dorothy (Ernie), and host of cousins in Virginia; Helen also had three very special friends that were very dear to her, Mrs. Jenny, Diane and David, and a very special caregiver that gave Helen the best care that you could ask for; Lisa Cobb.
