Elizabeth "Sally" Rhines

Elizabeth (Sally) Harris-Rhines was born April 28, 1938 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Bruster and Flora Harris-Hayes who preceded her in death. Elizabeth’s husband, Harry Leo Rhines, a sister, Elsie Harris, two of her brothers, James Richard and Walter Hayes, one sister-in-law, Lady (Sue) Hayes, two of her grandchildren, Anita Whiteside and Maurice Harris also preceded her in death. Elizabeth accepted Christ as her personal Savior at a very early age and was 9 years old when she was baptized. In 1965, she moved from Hayti MO to St. Louis MO and became a member of Watkins Temple Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Watkins and the late Rev. Emmonds. Later she became a member of Mount Herald Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jimmi Gwynn. After series of illnesses, Elizabeth continued her services for the Lord during home ministry until the Lord called her from this life to be born into “Life Everlasting”. She will be missed by those who loved her, but her memory and the good she has done will live on forever. Elizabeth was a faithful servant of the Lord. She was a prayer warrior and she loved to listen and sing old time gospel music. She was well known as “one who went about during good”, rendering God’s service through fasting, praying, and putting Christ first in everything she did. Every minute of her day, she filled with helpful, absorbing works. She visited the sick and sorrowing, caring and ministering to their needs. Many people called her from far and near just for her to pray for them. The hour was never too early or too late for her to pray, share her wisdom, or give counseling. She was known as “Sally” and had a special love for family who affectionately called her - “Madea”, “Big Sister”, “Mama Liza”, “Aunt Madea” or “Aunt Sally”. Sally leaves to cherish her precious memories: eight (8) daughters, Eller Nevarez, Ella Vereen (Henry), Malen Strong (Steve), Rennie Rhines, Veatrice Loyd, Jeraldine Etta, Veraline Long (Kevin), and Ruth Harris. Twenty-four (24) grandchildren, thirty-six (36) great-grandchildren, and seven (7) great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves (3) brothers, Johnny, Freeman and Michael, (8) sisters, Ivory, Barbara (Mike), Bobbie J., Carolyn (David), Linda (Derrick), Ruby J., Franscine and Tiffany, two elderly cousins, Alfred Ishman and Veraline Mayo, a host of necies, nephews, cousins and friends.
