Genice Barnes

Obituary Genice Marie Barnes ("Necie") was born on June 12, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Harold and Stella White. She was one of five children born to this union. Two siblings preceded her in death. Genice professed her life to Christ at an early age. She was baptized and became a member of Washington Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. Genice attended St. Louis Public Schools and went on to attend Lincoln University where she pursued a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. She later attended Colorado Technical University Online to further her education and knowledge in Information Technology with an emphasis in Software Engineering. Genice had a brilliant mind. She possessed over 20 years of accounting experience and later entered in to the information technology industry as a software tester and program analyst. Genice advocated the importance of education and self empowerment. She impacted the lives of many young adults. She was a mentor and a teacher. Genice was united in holy matrimony to Anthony Casson Barnes ("Andy") on October 5, 1974 in Saint Louis, Missouri. To their union was born their only daughter, Angela Marie Royal (Barnes). Anthony and Genice were also granted as the legal godparents of Kimberly Blackmon-Finnie and in addition, raised her relatives Tracy Cooksey (deceased) and Tonya Cooksey, as well as Christal Brown-Baker as they're daughters. Genice was a pillar of strength and love to all who knew her. She was dignified and highly respected by many. She was known for her down-to-earth personality, witty sense of humor, nurturing demeanor, and her willingness to help any and everyone who met her. Genice was a mother figure to so many and her love was unconditional and unchanging. Genice transitioned from her mortal life to an eternal life on September 14, 2011. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Anthony Casson Barnes, her daughter Angela Marie Royal (Rico), her goddaughter Kimberly Blackmon-Finnie, Tonya Cooksey, Christal Brown-Baker, her brother Harold White Jr. (Yvonne), her sister LaRoma Halloway (Earl), her nieces: Melanie White, Shannon White-Halloway, and Lauren White; Her nephews: Lamont Lewis (Charmaine), Michael Lewis, Harold White III, Ramone White, and Ernesto White II, her aunt Ernestine White and a host of cousins and friends.
