Lorraine Johnson

Lorraine Rosetta Potter was born on December 17, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri to Gertrude Covington and Lawrence Potter, who both preceded her in death. She was the youngest of two children. Her brother Lawrence Jr. also preceded her in death. Lorraine grew up in North St. Louis City on Desoto where she made lots of friends. To know her was to love her, she never met a stranger. Lorraine attended St. Louis Public Schools, Dunbar Elementary, and Vashon High School where she graduated class of 1957. After high school, Lorraine attended the Taylor School of Beauty Culture where she earned her diploma to become a cosmetologist. As a young adult, Lorraine worked as a laborer for Rexall and Hampy Leather Crafts. Throughout her adult life, Lorraine met lifelong friends Ruth Spinks, Joyce Hopkins, and Marlene Porter. Later, she met the love of her life, William "Willie" Johnson. The pair married on June 15, 1969, and were married for almost 40 years until his untimely passing. They have two daughters, Cheryl, and Natalie. Although she was a homebody, Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at family gatherings. Lorraine also enjoyed sitting on the porch and being outside in the neighborhood. Lorraine's favorite show to watch was her stories, The Young and the Restless. She also liked to cook for her family. She loved watching football on Sundays, specifically the Green Bay Packers. She loved catching up and talking on the phone with her friends and daughters. Over the past year, Lorraine's health began to decline. Despite these tribulations, she always stayed resilient and strong through it all. On January 17, 2024, Lorraine transitioned into eternal life. She leaves behind daughters, Cheryl, and Natalie; grandchildren, Tiffany, Andre, Brandon (BJ, and Aja; great-grandchildren, Terrion, Takalin, and Bryce; nephews, Larry, Kevin, Stanley (preceded her in death), Darryl (preceded her in death), and Ralph; nieces, Latrice, Racine, Tammy, and Nicki (preceded her in death); and a host of friends and family who loved her dearly. Although Lorraine may no longer be with us physically, she will forever remain in our hearts.
