Monica McNichols Johnson

Monica Lynn McNichols Johnson was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on February 22, 1968. She was the youngest of two children born to Tyrone and Donna McNichols Sr. Her mother preceded her in death. Monica accepted Christ at an early age. At the time of her homecoming, she was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Monica began her education in the St. Louis Archdiocese Schools. After completing 8th grade at St. Francis Xavier School, she attended Ladue Horton Watkins High School. As a proud Ladue Ram, Monica was an outstanding Freshman athlete who excelled in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. However, due to an accident and medical concerns, she finished her high school sports career as a dedicated track and field participant. Following her 1986 graduation from Ladue High School, Monica pursued a higher education. She attended Central Missouri State University and Clark-Atlanta University before receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Harris Stowe University, with minors in Psychology and English, in May 1994. On October 8, 1994, Monica married Harry Johnson. From this union, one child was born, Jaylen McNichols Johnson. Monica adored her son and his accomplishments. She was always there to cheer him on proudly during his football games. Like her, he was an adept Ladue athlete. Monica worked as a teacher in the St. Louis Public Schools, supporting and advocating for the students. She worked tirelessly to balance family life and her career. Her passion for helping students achieve and overcome obstacles was unrivaled by her commitment and loyalty to the programs and families she supported within the school community. After leaving teaching, Monica continued advocating for students and their families through her various roles as an educator, instructor, and program manager. On March 7, 2024, Monica departed from this world where she was loved by many. She leaves to celebrate her life and to cherish her memories: Husband-Harry Johnson; Son-Jaylen Johnson; Grandson- Mar’Quis Boyd; Father-Tyrone McNichols Sr.; Brother-Tyrone (Lisa) J. McNichols Jr.; Nieces-Brittney, Nicole, Natalie, and Nia; Aunts- Betty Frye and Phyllis McNichols, and a host of beloved cousins and friends.
