Ola Mae Bledsoe

Ola Mae Bledsoe's life journey was a testament to her unwavering commitment to faith, family, and service, born on September 10, 1950, to Mary Virginia Graham and Clarence Arthur Bledsoe in Tutwiler, Mississippi. Her Life began in Saint Louis at the young age of two years old. Ola was the second oldest of nine (9) siblings. Ola’s academic pursuits were marked by her completion of Enright middle school and Soldan High school where she was a class officer and graduated in 1968. She proudly cheered “Go Tigers!” Ola Accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist church in Houston, Texas under the leadership of the late Reverend Wilkins. While in Saint Louis, Missouri she Became a member at Devotional Baptist Church by her late Uncle Reverend Erbie Bledsoe Sr. Ola has always been an active member in every church she attended. Even as a devoted mother to Brian; Ola continued her education going to college where she attended Washington University where she earned her a degree in Urban Planning. Her career spanned City Hall and later worked as an insurance adjuster. After her career as an adjuster in 1980; Ola then decided she would serve her country in the Army. She relocated to San Antonio then Houston, Texas. During that time in the Army, she earned another degree which was in nursing. Ola's commitment to service extended far beyond her professional life. The Black Nurses Association, The American Heart Association for 15 years receiving many awards for her years of service, Emani Family Center, John Cochran Veteran's Hospital where she received a Caregiver support volunteer work program award and The Breast Cancer association. All her yearly support at the Sista Strut (walk for breast cancer) was in her favor in. She was diagnosed with Breast cancer herself and overcame it! Ola's identity was multi-faceted – a devoted child of God, a loving mother, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. Her kindness, love, and spontaneous prayers left a profound impact on those around her. Her affinity for gospel music and her indomitable spirit shone brightly.On July 29, 2023, Ola Mae Bledsoe's remarkable journey reached its end, as she joined God's embrace. She left behind cherished memories and a legacy of service both parents, Step father; Carlton Farr Sr., Brother Clarence Bledsoe, Sisters Patricia Little; Valerie Farr; Aunts and Brian’s Father Sylvester Atkins. But her influence lives on through: her son Brain, her siblings Carlton Jr, Micheal, Theresa, Denis and Dennis; Her nieces Valicia, Mary, Monique and nephew Victor. Her lifetime friends became sisters to her Eloise, Ladoris, Shelby, Dorothy. A host of cousins, other relatives and friends mourned her passing, but her influence serves as an inspiration of love, devotion, and selflessness that will be remembered for generations.
